George Delany Art Now on Etsy

October 16, 2014

T O P I C: Delany Art on Etsy!

After many months of consternation, artist/designer George Delany has posted creative graphic design, poster art and paintings-- prints of paintings, on the international art/design website, Etsy. He is located at GeoBattleArt

Work uploaded includes some of his most popular examples of wall decor, the screen printed (serigraphic) Beach Poster Collection, featuring beach sand from each of the States represented in the collection: Cape Cod, Long Island, New Jersey, Chesapeake Bay, Florida and California. Rhode Island Beach™ poster was the first of all those designed and produced, sold out two printings, and is no longer available, regrettably.

These unique examples of Delany wall art came about after the Rhode Island Beach™ poster was produced by Delany Design Group as part of a series of five serigraphs for the Rhode Island State bicentennial celebration back in 1986.

Mr. Delany was trained in graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design under the direction of Malcolm Grear (graphic design and Harry Beckwith (typography). He was fortunate also to have a been a photography student under the direction of Harry Callahan. Currently, Mr. Delany owns and operates a small design and communications firm specializing in branded communications in print and on-line, aaaForay, Inc. Creative services are provided to start-up organizations, small, medium and emerging companies, non-profits. He also serves as photographer-in-chief at georgedelanyphoto. He can be reached at: george@aaaforay.com/

Other examples of work currently on Etsy will be discussed in subsequent posts. Here are the images that are still available. Sold on a FINAL SALES, basis. They will not be reproduced anytime soon. Allow 1-2 weeks for delivery.

Here are images from the Beach Poster Collection™-- check out the work available on Etsy!:

Opening of Gallery Delany Announced

"I have had this kind of thing on my mind for a long time," the artist opined. Yes, it's been a long time coming.

Welcome to Gallery Delany, a presentation of mixed media graphic, typographic and photographic works by artist and designer George B. Delany. Here, you will see:
> Patriotic graphic design that has its origins in the aftermath of 9.11.01. "This line will continue to expand, especially during this period when many Americans feel besieged by what is going on," he explains. There are several different lines of patriotic decor that he has created in the past decade.
> There is the "Who We Are Collection,"-- this was the first such design exercise completed. The entire set won a gold award in the poster category and was entered in the Graphis Poster Annual, some years later. This collection was also entered in the Library of Congress toward the end of 2012.
> The American Revival Collection, comprised of the same themes created in a different format-- vertical, with accompanying verse at the bottom of the page placed under the image of the American flag, came along a couple of years later, as the artist recalls. Both these collections incorporate an image of the American flag that was flying outside the designer's home at the time of the tragedy.
> The Boston Strong collection came into being after the terrorist incident at the Boston Marathon in 2012. This is still a developing collection, more images and verses may come along in the coming year, 2015.
> The "Don't Tread on Me," Collection has only one entry in it, thus far, designed in 2012. This collection will no doubt have more products included as the year 2015 opens up and as we move toward the next Federal election in 2016.
> "The Statue of Liberty Collection" was created as a Collector's Edition of four large offset print posters, each of which measured 3' x 2' back in 1986. The collection was conceived to offer the country the finest graphic representations of Lady Liberty the designer could create, in that year. They were marketed first to Fortune 1000 companies, and later at retail. The designer set up his booth for the national celebration on July 4 of 1986, at 2 Broadway where he and his team were besieged with buyers from all over the world who purchased one or more of these Statue of Liberty posters. It was a memorable event. These posters today are what remain of that printing. When these are gone, they are gone. They will not be re-printed, as far as is known. All sales are final. The set was donated to the national organizing committee. It was included in the Reagan Collection, the Lee Iacocca Collection and eventually was included in the collection of the National Monument at Ellis Island

We will explore other aspects of the new Gallery Delany website in upcoming posts. Stay with us! Here are the images that comprise that first, "Who We Are," Collection. Each measures 24" x 18" and is printed via offset print technology. It should be noted that the God Bless America and Star-Spangled Banner posters are in very low supply. These will be reprinted and made available, once again.
